LA VISIONE / THE VISION:

A Settembre 2024, Emporium srl ha presentato alla rete vendite la nuova collezione di prodotti indoor studiata insieme alla direzione artistica di OIL Design Lab. Questa nuova collezione di prodotti si distacca in maniera netta da tutto ciò che Emporium ha mai prodotto, sancendo una marcata linea di distinzione tra il vecchio catalogo (ancora in essere) e la nuova visione aziendale, che proietta il gruppo verso nuovi obiettivi nel mondo del design. Caposaldo della collezione è la famiglia di lampade KONA, attualmente in versione sospensione ed applique, le cui forme evidenziano il forte cambiamento di stile ed innovazione.

In September 2024, Emporium srl presented to the sales network the new collection of indoor products designed together with the art direction of OIL Design Lab. This new collection of products is a clear departure from anything Emporium has ever produced, establishing a marked line of distinction between the old catalog (still in existence) and the new corporate vision, which projects the group toward new goals in the world of design. The cornerstone of the collection is the KONA family of lamps, currently in suspension and wall sconce versions, whose forms highlight the strong change in style and innovation.

OIL DESIGN LAB STUDIO:

OIL Design Lab nasce nel 2014 come hub di ricerca di GaS Studio, affermato studio di architettura, attivo in Europa e negli Stati Uniti, con cui collabora su progetti internazionali. La visione creativa e fuori dagli schemi ha permesso allo studio, negli ultimi 10 anni, di progettare soluzioni innovative dall’appeal estetico minimale e fortemente riconoscibile. Lo studio si occupa di design a 360 gradi, passando dal product design al graphic design, dal retail con relativa User Experience all’exhibition e display product design. Il team è composto da Giacomo Sicuro (CEO di OIL Design Lab), Niccolò Fracchiolla e Andrea Belotti, ovviamente integrati dalla collaborazione con gli architetti del ben più ampio studio GaS. Grazie alla visione creativa dello studio, ed alla capacità produttiva di Emporium, è stato dato origine ad un progetto di crescita davvero valido e stupefacente, che porterà il prestigio aziendale ad un nuovo livello.

OIL Design Lab was founded in 2014 as the research hub of GaS Studio, an established architectural firm , active in Europe and the USA, with which it collaborates on international projects. The creative and out-of-the-box vision has allowed the studio, over the past 10 years, to design innovative solutions with a minimal and strongly recognizable aesthetic appeal. The studio deals with design at 360 degrees, going from product design to graphic design, from retail with related User Experience to exhibition and display product design. The team is composed by Giacomo Sicuro (CEO of OIL Design Lab), Niccolò Fracchiolla and Andrea Belotti, obviously complemented by the collaboration with the architects of the much larger GaS studio. Thanks to the firm’s creative vision, and Emporium’s production capacity, a truly viable and amazing growth project has been originated that will take the firm’s prestige to a new level.

LA COLLEZIONE/THE COLLECTION:

La nuova collezione presentata è composta da 8 nuovi prodotti, ciascuno declinato in diverse varianti di colore e dimensione, che ben si sposano con gli attuali trend di colore ed estetica formale.
La sezione illuminotecnica è composta dalle lampade KONA, OJO e FLEJO, di cui le prime due presentano anche la versione applique, mentre la terza presenta due versioni dimensionali (120cm e 90cm).
Per quanto riguarda gli arredi, sono stati presentati un cofee table (ROTAB), una famiglia di orologi (TOKEI) e uno specchio multifunzione  (GEMEO). Alcuni prodotti seguono la tradizione manifatturiera dell’azienda, ovvero nascono dalla lavorazione del cristallo acrilico, mentre altri abbracciano nuovi processi produttivi, come la piega di lastre metalliche o lo stampo per vetroresine.

The newly presented collection consists of 8 new products, each declined in different color and size variants, which fit well with current trends in color and formal aesthetics. The lighting section consists of the KONA, OJO and FLEJO lamps, the first two of which also present a sconce version, while the third presents two dimensional versions (120cm and 90cm). As for furniture, a coffee table (ROTAB), a family of clocks (TOKEI) and a multifunctional mirror (GEMEO) were presented. Some products follow the company’s manufacturing tradition, that is, they originate from the processing of acrylic crystal, while others embrace new production processes, such as bending metal sheets or molding for fiberglass.

LA FAMIGLIA KONA/THE KONA FAMILY:

La famiglia di lampade KONA si compone di due elementi fondamentali, ovvero la versione a sospensione e la versione applique. La versione a sospensione nasce dalla volontà di creare un oggetto sensibile, leggerissimo, la cui semplicità potesse nascondere la sua notevole dimensione. Il minimalismo si riflette nelle forme, ma soprattutto nella scelta di usare una bandella di tessuto come passacavo ma anche come sistema portante. Questo elemento, visto frontalmente appare esile e quasi invisibile, mentre visto lateralmente diventa un tutt’uno con lo spessore della lampada. La Lampada ha una scocca in alluminio piegato lunga 160cm x 4cm di sezione, la sezione centrale è dettata dallo spessore della bandella, mentre alle estremità la sezione si riduce, creando un effetto delicato e leggero. La medesima forma si riflette nel rosone, che è volutamente decentrato rispetto al corpo principale, per rompere i classici schemi di totale simmetria di questi oggetti a sospensione. La lampada appare dunque in totale disequilibrio, ma allo stesso tempo in perfetto equilibrio. All’interno del rosone è alloggiato un ingegnoso sistema di carrucole progettato da Emporium, il quale rende semplicissima l’installazione e l’eventuale manutenzione della lampada. Il rosone difatti, grazie a dei magneti, resta solidale agli agganci del soffitto, ma può essere velocemente spostato per poter aggiustare l’altezza della lampada. La versione applique, più ridotta nelle dimensioni (altezza 40cm) presenta la medesima tecnologia e finiture della sospensione. Il driver è remoto per consentire un design minimale e perfettamente allineato alla sospensione. L’attacco a muro è semplicissimo, e la luce indiretta a parete crea giochi di luce poetici e delicati. Entrambe le lampade montano LED 4000K, la lampada KONA sospensione ha un consumo di 40W, con una potenza reale di 4750 lumen, mentre la lampada KONA applique ha un consumo di 5,5W e una potenza di 850 lumen. Il driver della versione applique è esterno al corpo della lampada.

The KONA family of lamps consists of two basic elements, namely the pendant version and the wall sconce version. The pendant version stems from the desire to create a sensitive, extremely light object whose simplicity could hide its considerable size. Minimalism is reflected in the shapes, but especially in the choice of using a fabric strip as a cable grommet but also as a supporting system. This element, seen from the front appears slender and almost invisible, while seen from the side it becomes one with the thickness of the lamp. The Lamp has a bent aluminum body 160cm long x 4cm section, the central section is dictated by the thickness of the band, while at the ends the section is reduced, creating a delicate and light effect. The same shape is reflected in the rosette, which is deliberately off-center from the main body, to break the classic patterns of total symmetry of these pendant objects. The lamp thus appears to be totally out of balance, but at the same time in perfect equilibrium. Inside the rosette is housed an ingenious system of pulleys designed by Emporium, which makes the installation and eventual maintenance of the lamp extremely easy. The rosette in fact, thanks to magnets, remains integral to the ceiling hooks, but can be quickly moved to be able to adjust the height of the lamp. The sconce version, smaller in size (height 40cm) features the same technology and finishes as the suspension. The driver is remote to allow a minimalist design that is perfectly aligned with the suspension. Wall attachment is super simple, and indirect wall light creates poetic and delicate plays of light. Both lamps mount 4000K LEDs, the KONA suspension lamp has a consumption of 40W, with a real output of 4750 lumens, while the KONA wall sconce lamp has a consumption of 5.5W and an output of 850 lumens. The driver of the wall sconce version is external to the lamp body.
